MIDSUMMER SCREAM
HALLOWEEN and HORROR CONVENTION
Held at the Long Beach Convention center in downtown Long Beach Midsummer Scream is the perfect place to get your haunt on, and the HWA has been there since the conventions early beginnings in 2016. The San Diego and Los Angeles chapters regularly have a table at this event and conduct panels and workshops for those interested in writing horror.

The San Diego Festival of Books
The San Diego Festival of Books is a celebration of reading and writing and the important role they play in our lives and our communities. Their goal is to provide a place where readers and authors can connect to share stories, ideas, and enthusiasm for the traditions, culture and values of the written word. The SDHWA has participated in several of these events and looks forward to doing so in the future.
Los Angeles Festival of Book
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is a free, public festival celebrating the written word. It is the largest book festival in the United States, annually drawing approximately 150,000 attendees.

Writer's Coffeehouse
The Writers Coffeehouse is a free 3-hour networking session that meets monthly at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore. Facilitated by Jonathan Maberry and The Liars Club.
Occurs every first Sunday of the month.

Chapter Meetings
Join us for our bi-monthly meetings. Meet fellow authors and share what you are working on or what you want to write. If you’d like to audit a meeting, please contact us. You do not have to be a member of the HWA to attend a chapter meeting, but you will have to join if you wish to continue.
